CliffScout Community Guidelines

CliffScout is built on community knowledge about an inherently risky activity. These guidelines keep the information trustworthy and the community decent. They are part of our Terms of Service, and breaking them can get your content removed and your account banned.

1. Never claim an unverified spot is safe

This is the most serious rule on CliffScout. Dangerous misinformation can get someone killed.

Don't post heights, water depths, or conditions you haven't personally observed and verified.
Conditions change — water levels drop, debris moves, hazards appear. Say when you observed what you observed.
If you're not sure, say you're not sure. Never present a guess as fact.

2. No objectionable content

No offensive, explicit, sexual, shocking, hateful, or violent photos, comments, links, or profile content. CliffScout is a public community.

3. Be respectful

No harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting other people. Disagree about a spot's rating all you want — keep it about the spot, not the person.

4. No spam

No ads, affiliate links, scams, impersonation, or repeated junk. Media links should show real footage from the spot they're posted to.

5. Report what you see

Every comment, photo, and profile has a report option, including a dedicated category for dangerous safety misinformation. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed; repeat or serious offenders are banned. You can also block any user to hide their content from yourself.

6. Respect access and the law

Don't encourage trespassing or illegal access. Many spots are on private property or subject to local rules — note access concerns honestly so others can make informed decisions.
